About the course

Graduates will have acquired theoretical knowledge in anatomy and physiology related to the human body and massage; massage theory; knowledge of legal and ethic parameters of the massage profession; practical skills for a range of massage techniques (with a focus on relaxation and sports massage; effective communication and interpersonal skills for professional practice; and comprehensive first aid. Graduates will have the theoretical and applied skills at a level that will allow them to gain employment as massage therapists in the massage industry and may pursue work in a variety of settings including: health and fitness centres, spa resorts; multi disciplinary health clinics; community organisations and self employment.

Entry requirements

Open Entry. Selection criteria will include under 20yrs to have completed 4yrs secondary education with at least 12 NCEA credits at L2. Suggested subjects English, PhysEd and/or Biology. Internationals IELTS Score of 6.0 with 5.5 in written band.
