Basic Food Safety Hazard Identification and Control

About the course

Whether you want to set up a market food stall, or you have an established hospitality business, our food safety training courses will help you comply with new requirements under the 2014 Food Act.

This short introductory 1.5-day course is ideal for newcomers to the hospitality industry or for trained staff who need a refresher. You learn about the food safety practices required for anyone working in a kitchen, including personal hygiene, and an understanding of basic food contamination hazards and how to prevent them.

Run on demand, this course qualifies participants with NZQA Unit Standard 20666.

For business groups we offer training option specifically targeted to your business. Whether you are an established restaurant, café, Marae, childcare centre or retirement village, we can run the training on campus or onsite at your workplace.

You'll learn how to:

  • identify and understand basic food contamination hazards
  • identify and understand methods of preventing cross contamination of foods in a food business

Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive:

  • NZQA credit of unit 20666 - Demonstrate basic knowledge of contamination hazards and control methods used in a food business
