About the course
Do you have a passion for helping others? Do you want to work in the sport and exercise industry which contributes to the wellbeing of your community? This one-year sports qualification could be the course for you. During your study you'll build on your current knowledge of anatomy and physiology. You'll also develop your skills in things like exercise analysis and programming, critical thinking, coaching, and more. All this helps you to develop your leadership capabilities. This sports diploma is a pathway into the Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance. This means once you complete this diploma you can continue straight into the second year of the Degree.
Entry requirements
You must have:
NCEA Level 2 with passes in English / Te Reo Māori, or Equivalent Educational achievement, or completed the New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4), or completed the New Zealand Certificate in Freestyle Group Exercise (Level 4), or Special Admission, and Satisfactory Police vetting
For applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required. Police vettingAll applicants will be required to provide a signed Police Vetting consent form. Convictions will not necessarily prevent applicants from entering the course and reviewed on a case by case basis. Special admissionApplicants who do not meet the academic requirements may be given special admission if they can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the course outcomes. Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
