About the course
Every business needs strong, capable managers. At Toi Ohomai you can advance your study in management with our suite of applied, postgraduate management courses. You can also endorse your qualification with a specialisation in business, health or hospitality. The Master of Management is designed for students wanting to advance their scholarly research and master their strategic management capabilities. On completion you will be prepared to take on a leadership position in a relevant management context. You explore the different aspects that make up a leadership role, including communications, finance, strategic planning, human resources, governance and marketing – taught by a team of highly respected and internationally qualified tutors. By mixing advanced theoretical study with highly applied, work-based learning, you engage in rigorous intellectual analysis and learn to apply new skills and techniques to existing or emerging issues in the workplace. Your advanced level of work-integrated practice and knowledge will contribute to high-level management and performance improvement, particularly (but not exclusively) in the areas of business, health or hospitality. The Master of Management can be achieved through any of the following three pathways:
Pathway 1: Master of Management by Thesis (120 credits) – 1 year (full-time) Pathway 2: Master of Management by Coursework (180 credits) – 18 months (full-time) Pathway 3: Master of Management by Coursework and Thesis (240 credits) – 2 years (full-time)
These pathways comprise coursework, an advanced applied research project and a thesis.
Entry requirements
Pathway 1: Master of Management by Thesis
An undergraduate degree with honours or postgraduate diploma in business or related field of study
Pathway 2: Master of Management by Coursework
An undergraduate degree with at least a New Zealand B average at Level 7, and at least one year practical or professional experience, with at least two written references, OR An undergraduate degree with honours with at least a New Zealand B average at Level 7, OR A postgraduate diploma, OR Special admission - if you do not meet the academic requirements you may be given special admission if Toi Ohomai staff are satisfied you are capable of successfully completing the requirements
