About the course
Employers are always looking for skilled, adaptable staff who can continuously improve and innovate. This course gives you the skills and knowledge you need to work as a manager or leader an operational level. You'll start with the essential fundamentals of business. This includes basic accounting principles, interpreting financial performance and economic theory. You'll also cover fundamentals of commercial law, organisational management and communication and marketing. This strand then focuses on topics that will improve your knowledge and skill in leadership and management. The Diploma in Business is also:
The first year of the the Bachelor of Applied Management at Toi Ohomai. You can can pathway straight into the second year of this degree after first year of the diploma. Or complete the first year of the Diploma in Business at Toi Ohomai and transfer 105 credits towards completing a Bachelor in Business at the University of Waikato (*you'll need one additional paper to transfer the full year across to the BBus).
Entry requirements
To be admitted to this course, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 16 years of age on the date the course starts, AND Have NCEA Level 2 including 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or above or equivalent, OR Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 3 or above with a relevant pathway
If you do not meet the academic requirements you may be given special admission if Toi Ohomai staff are satisfied you are capable of successfully completing the requirements. Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
