About the course
*This course has no course fees. This 12 week maritime course teaches you to carry out deck crew duties under supervision, and gives you the training and qualifications you need to apply for entry-level positions on commercial vessels. You'll board various vessels including the Toi Ohomai vessel "Weka" and learn the skills you need to be an effective crew member and perform basic operational tasks. As a graduate of this qualification you'll be able to:
Comply with workplace health and safety requirements on board a vessel Demonstrate basic skills with sea safety and survival equipment and with maritime emergency procedures Work as an effective crew member to perform basic operational tasks and provide first aid on board a vessel
