About the course

Keen to work in the construction industry? Learn all the right skills needed in order to succeed.

By choosing the Allied Trades strand you’ll gain experience in a range of construction skills, allowing you to find your passion. You’ll enjoy trips to local construction sites and visits from industry experts, and work on a range of exciting projects.

By completing this course, and with additional training and/or experience you can go on to further roles in the construction industry like carpenter, joiner, plasterer, painter or roofer.

Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:

New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Allied Trades) (Level 3)

Entry requirements

  • 10 credits in each of literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy at NCEA Level 1, OR
  • be able to demonstrate suitable knowledge and skills

If you do not meet the academic requirements you may be given special admission if Toi Ohomai staff are satisfied you are capable of successfully completing the requirements.

Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
