About the course

Graduates will have developed skills and knowledge in Health and safety in the workplace; first aid and emergency procedures; workplace communication and timekeeping; safe use of hand and machine tools and safe working procedures on construction sites; carpentry theory; elective modules in carpentry practice and core construction. Graduates will have gained credit towards the National Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) and entry to the National Construction training pathway with NQFcredits towards the following programmes: National Certificate in Construction (Leading Hand), National Certificate in Construction (Supervisor), National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, National Diploma in Architectural Technology, National Diploma in Construction Management or a possible alternative progression within the national joinery pathway. Graduates will have gained the theoretical knowledge and the introductory practical skills valued by employers selecting new apprentices.
