About the course

A graduate of the Certificate in Nursing (Competence Assessment Programme) (Level 7) will be an overseas nurse seeking registration in New Zealand or a New Zealand nurse returning to practice, after an absence of five or more years, who has demonstrated the competencies for their scope of practice under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. They will have theoretical knowledge and clinical placement experience that is specific to New Zealand and includes: the Treaty of Waitangi; cultural safety; legislation impacting on the practice of nurses in New Zealand; updated nursing skills and current practice. Graduates will be able to re-enter nursing, or if from overseas will be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand for registration and a practising certificate to work in New Zealand as a nurse or nurse assistant.

Entry requirements

NZ nursing qual & required by Nursing Council NZ to complete competency programme for current practising cert or hold International Nursing qual/reg required by NCNZ to complete competency programme to acquire NZ registration. An IELTS of 7 in every band
