About the course

In this programme you will gain the skills and knowledge to work as an assistant technician in the gas industry. It provides the perfect career pathway for those starting out in the gas industry to progress their career.

The training programme includes a mix of practical training and assessment, undertaken in the workplace, and theory learning and assessment, allowing you to complete theory elements of the programme at your own pace.

The New Zealand Certificate in Reticulated Gas Pipelines (Level 3)includes the following outcomes:

  • Apply knowledge of health and safety, basic first aid, environmental impact awareness and risk assessment requirements to ensure the safety of people and property while performing work in the gas industry
  • Excavate and reinstate trenches on a gas worksite
  • Interpret and produce asset information on a gas worksite
  • Apply common corrosion control and protection activities to protect/maintain assests
  • Assist in jointing techniques and the construction, maintenance and repair of pipeline and piping facility installation
  • Communicate professionally with external people in the gas industry.
