About the course

Graduates will develop advanced knowledge and skills in an area of specialist practice to work effectively and collaboratively within a social services, education, health or Maori development area. Graduates will develop a critical awareness of their practice and the social context in which it exits. Graduates will be able to specialise in one of the five endorsement areas available for study in the programme. Specialist areas include Te Reo Maori Development, Adult Education, Social Work, Counselling and Maori Counselling. In addition graduates who complete the specified modules within the programme could exit with the award of the Diploma in Te Reo Rangatira or the Diploma in Adult Education or the Diploma in Social Work (incorporating National Diploma in Social Work) or the Diploma in Counselling (incorporating the National Diploma in Counselling) or the Diploma in Te Whiuwhiu o te Hau (Maori Counselling) (incorporating the National Diploma in Counselling). An early childhood education pathway is also available within this degree for Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) graduates.
