About the course

This qualification with three strands is achieved alongside the completion of trade training as a Firefighter in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Firefighters are responsible for maintaining operations in the Air Force base Fire Flights. These are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year: providing an immediate incident response capability to a defence area.

Firefighting is a challenging job, both physically and mentally. You will be required to maintain a high level of fitness to conduct rescue and firefighting operations. You will conduct regular operational skills maintenance, designed to give you the knowledge to make the right decisions in dangerous situations.
