About the course
This qualification is available to Gunners and Infantry in the New Zealand Army. It is achieved alongside the completion of Corps Training in the Royal New Zealand Artillery or Combat Corps Training with the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment.
Gunners train in the combat and technical skills required to deliver direct and indirect fire. This means more than just firing artillery barrages to suppress a threat – it means protecting the force, coordinating military fire-power, gathering information, illuminating the battlefield, and identifying targets.
Infantry are trained in the use of specialist weapons that are capable of engaging a wide range of selective targets. You will be a master of field craft, navigation and front line first aid. Other skills learned include working with military armoured vehicles, working military dogs, and Air Force helicopters.
