Who is this for?
Graduates of the Marketing and Sales qualification will have the skill to work in an entry level role within a sales and marketing team. You will gain the confidence and knowledge to take on the role of marketing assistant, junior account manager or sales representative. The qualification will provide a great first step on that career ladder.

This qualification will equip you with the right tools to understand buyer decision making and the influences on buyer behaviour. Why do we do what we do and why do we make those brand buying decisions? All will be revealed in a way that enables you to apply the practice within your workplace or business entity.

Awareness of market intelligence - The market research component is core to any sales business. It helps an organisation understand their consumer and the consumer decision making process so that marketing can be tweaked and fine-tuned to maximise sales. If you are working in sales and marketing, you do need to understand this science. This qualification will help you gain a sound awareness of the tools of market research and how to apply them within your business environment.
Courses in this programme
To gain a New Zealand Diploma in Business (Marketing and Sales) (Level 5) you are required to complete the following EIGHT courses.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have:

A minimum of 14 numeracy credits at level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the Directory of Assessment Standards; and

Fifty credits at level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Māori; of which 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing; and

The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards found on the NZQA website at Literacy requirements for University Entrance.

English requirements
All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those applicants for whom English is not a first language must have:

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.0 issued within the last two years, with not less than 5.5 in any category; or
-
A test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 60 in the computer-based test (with a writing score of 20), or at least 550 in the paper-based test (with an essay score of 5 TWE), issued in the last two years; or
-
A qualification equivalent to the above; or
-
Complete two years study at a New Zealand secondary school and achieve either NCEA Level 3 or New Zealand University Entrance or both.
