About the course
Tikanga is about purpose, practices and protocols, and you'll find it in every aspect of te ao Māori (the Māori world).
This introductory programme gives you the foundations of understanding what tikanga is, why it exists, and how it manifests itself in practice.
Your local class will have a specialised delivery strand that brings foundational tikanga learning to life.
Upon successful completion of this programme, you will receive the following qualification:
- Te Pōkaitahi Tikanga (Kaupae 3) - NZ Certificate in Tikanga (Level 3).
You'll learn about:
- what is tikanga Māori?
- what's the thinking behind tikanga?
- how is tikanga applied?
Entry requirements
To enrol in this programme, a potential student must:
- be at least 16 years of age
- be a New Zealand citizen (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident
- attend an information session with a kaiako.
*This course is not available to international students.
