About the course
Overview
This ICT programme will provide you with work-ready skills for a career in IT technical support and also provides cross-credit into the UCOL Bachelor of Information Communications Technology degree.
You will gain fundamental skills across a broad range of core ICT areas, including business information systems, computer hardware, networking and security, system support and troubleshooting, programming, web and database technologies, and systems analysis.
Our practical hands-on focus enables learners to demonstrate their IT and technical support skills and develop frontline support expertise in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries.
Entry requirements
Domestic Entry Requirements
If under 20 years of age at the commencement of the programme, NCEA Level 3
OR
Equivalent academic achievement, such as:
- New Zealand Certificate in IT Essentials
- New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology)
OR
On a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean.
English language proficiency
If English is not your first language, you must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible).
International Entry Requirements
In addition to the Domestic Entry Requirements, the following applies to international learner applicants.
English language proficiency
International learner applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible).
Under 20 years of age
In addition to this, international applicants under 20 years of age must have NCEA equivalency.
