About the course

Learn to provide advanced person-centred support to a person with complex needs, and to their family/whānau with UCOL Te Pūkenga New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support).

If you have experience in a health or well-being setting and are looking to gain additional knowledge and skills, study the UCOL Te Pūkenga New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support).

You'll learn how to provide advanced person-centred support to a person with complex needs, and to take a leadership role in the workplace. 

Industry experience
There are 200 work experience hours for this programme.

COVID-19 Vaccination requirements

Some health and disability employers may require workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including those on placement. Check with your tutor or placement advisor to find out more. 

Successful graduates of the  UCOL Te Pūkenga New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) will be capable of working under broad guidance and may have some responsibility for the performance of others. Job opportunities may include:

  • Health care assistant
  • Senior caregiver
  • Senior health care assistant
  • Senior support worker in hospices or specialised dementia units
  • Aged residential care or home and community support settings.
This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Health Assistance or Support Work strands, and may lead to further study in related health and wellbeing settings, or in leadership and management.
