About the course

Discover if a career in beauty is right for you, while still in secondary school with UCOL's Academy 2 Day Makeup and Skincare Programme.

Are you interested in beauty therapy? UCOL's Acadmy 2 Day Makeup and Skincare Programme introduces you to a salon environment in the beauty service industry. 

This programme is designed to give you core skills and knowledge to provide a range of makeup and skincare services to a professional standard. You'll learn in a salon environment and work towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Course Information

Unit Standard 28843 (2 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of personal health and hygiene, and self-styling for working in a salon.

Unit Standard 28946 (4 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of tools, equipment and safe operating procedures used in make-up and skin care services.

Unit Standard 27648 (7 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of promotional activities within a make-up and skin care workplace.

Unit Standard 27644 (4 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of make-up and design theory.

Unit Standard 27647 (10 Credits)
Perform make-up services.

Unit Standard 27646 (10 Credits)
Perform skin care services for the face in preparation for make-up application.

Unit Standard 21938 (3 Credits)
Converse and interact with clients and operators in a salon environment.

Unit Standard 28845 (2 Credits)
Demonstrate safe and professional practice in the salon environment.


Entry requirements

Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 12 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school), aged 16 years or over.

Applications are to be received from participating schools.
