About the course
Outline
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the primary industry with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to take responsibility for the day to day operational management of an organic primary production operation.
Graduate Profile
Graduates of the qualification will be able to apply knowledge of organic principles to the implementation and monitoring of an organic primary production plan and organic standard’s compliance requirements.
Course Content
Train and prune fruit trees, scope and application of standards that apply to organic horticulture in New Zealand, knowledge of obtaining and maintaining organic certification for horticulture operations, post harvesting handling, organic pest, disease and weed management, soil-less growing media, soil health science and improvement, rootstock requirements, plant propagation and collection of seed.

16 years of age or over
NZ citizen or permanent resident
New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture or Agriculture Level 3
