About the course

Outline 

The basic residential property maintenance with BCATS programme is designed for people who wish to develop basic skills and knowledge in residential property maintenance and construction industries. It will build general life, work, and study skills in a holistic learning and supportive environment. 


Graduate Profile 

Graduates will be ready to enter employment at a supervised level in the general field of property maintenance, or to enter higher study in one of the fields covered in this programme, or in some other entry level programme. Graduates will gain NCEA level 2. 


Course Content 

Students will learn foundation knowledge and skills in safe working practices; use and maintenance of hand and power tools; residential maintenance including carpentry projects and the construction of garden furniture and residential fencing.

Entry requirements

16 years of age or over 

NZ citizen or permanent resident 

Interest in property maintenance and/or construction
