About the course

Overview 

This is an entry level programme for students with an interest in the beekeeping l industry. The programme is aimed at teaching basic bee-farming knowledge and skills to students with little or no experience in apiculture, so they can be successfully employed as junior employees in the apiculture/beekeeping industries, and can proceed to higher levels of education within this industry. 

 Graduate Profile 

On completion of this programme, students will have knowledge and strategies to identify future employment pathways, have the necessary knowledge and skills for working safely in regards to the beekeeping industry and in a rural workplace.. Graduates will gain NCEA level 2

 Beehives; assembly, shifting and repairs, characteristics of bees and bee disease, knowledge of the New Zealand beekeeping industry, contamination hazards and control methods with in the apiculture industry, hazards, hazard control, and consequences of injury in a rural workplace, safe use of Light Utility Vehicle’s
