Programme Outline
Skills developed in this programme will enhance chances of gaining employment in a number of fields where a basic knowledge of te reo Māori is required.
Successful completion of this certificate will allow you to enrol in Te Tohu Tauihu [Kaupae 4] | NZ Certificate in Te Reo me Ngā Tikanga Māori [Level 4], in the following semester/year.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Māori (Reo Rua) [Kaupae 3] | NZ Certificate in Te Reo Māori [Level 3] is intended for those who have intermediate-level understanding of and ability in the use of te reo.
As a graduate you will have the skills and knowledge to communicate in te reo with some independence and confidence in everyday whānau, marae, social/community, workplace and/or academic contexts and in Māori environments where they feel comfortable.

Entry requirements
Entry Requirements
You must have completed:
- The approved foundation programme, Te Pōkaitahi Reo Māori (Reo Rua) | NZ Certificate in Te Reo Māori [Level 2], or
- Have an equivalent qualification.
Entry with Credit
You may already have some knowledge or skills (from other study or experience) that can be recognized as credit towards completing this programme. If credit is awarded, you may no longer be deemed a full-time student for allowances. Please enquire about this before you enrol.
