This master's is a conversion programme. It allows you to pursue a career in accounting by providing an advanced understanding of accounting principles and practice
You'll focus on acquiring core technical knowledge in accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems and financial management, as well as developing critical thinking, analytical skills and research capabilities.
To become a registered chartered accountant in New Zealand, you need to gain membership to the following professional accounting bodies:
- Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ)
- Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia)

Entry requirements
For this programme, you will need the following:
1. A Bachelor's degree or Level 7 Graduate Diploma in the same or similar discipline with a B- average or above
2. A minimum of 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing)
3. If English is your second language, you will need one or more of the following:
- Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance
- Be able to provide evidence you satisfy our criteria for existing English proficiency
- Have achieved at least one English proficiency outcome in the last two years
