Manawatu-Wanganui
Manawatu-Wanganui is a region in the lower half of the North Island. The main population centres in the region are Palmerston North, Wanganui, Levin and Fielding. Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing are the main industries in the region with a focus on dairy farming. Palmerston North is the home of Massey University's main campus, although the university also has campuses in Auckland and Wellington.
The North Island's largest mountain, Mount Ruapehu, is only a two hour drive from Wanganui and offers some of New Zealand's best skiing and snowboarding.
