About the course

Graduates from this programme will have the fundamental construction skills required for a wide range of building and construction tasks. They will be able to - Demonstrate self management skills work ethics and attitudes which will allow them to successfully engage long term employment. Select and safely use a limited range of carpentry hand tools, portable power tools and under supervision wood working machines. Identify, select and correctly install the appropriate building materials and fastening systems used in simple construction. Interpret simple drawings to obtain building dimensions. Set out elements and components for a basic structure. Use materials and dispose of waste material with environmental considerations. Describe steps in the process of constructing a non consented timber framed buildings; Locate and find the relevant information for the building task in hand. Follow instruction(s), comprehend and activate both written and oral. Demonstrate and apply health and safety practices in the building industry. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of legislations in relation to building and employment.
