About the course
By meeting the competencies for entry to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) Register of Nurses, the graduate of MITs Bachelor of Nursing Pacific programme will be a clinically and culturally competent professional registered nurse, who: - Recognises the significance of the Te Tiriti by upholding its articles and principles within their nursing practice and recognises the unique whakapapa relationship with tangata o te moana nui a Kiwa (Pacific people). - Enriches the nursing profession and actively influences health outcomes by incorporating the values, identities and cultures of Pacific people. - Practises nursing in a manner identified by recipients of their care as culturally safe. - Has a confident cultural identity, self awareness and potential to take on future leadership roles/responsibilities both within their communities and the nursing profession. - Practises nursing competently in two worlds, Pacific and all peoples, whilst sharing and promoting Pacific culture/practices and learning from others. - Contributes to health and social justice as it relates to Pacific and all peoples, communities and populations through leadership, partnership, empowerment and advocacy. - Practises nursing in an ethical caring holistic manner, informed by Pacific and other models of care.
