About the course
At the conclusion of the programme the graduate will be able to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and attributes, while being under supervision, to:
Identify engineering metals, their properties and characteristics that are used in the manufacture of components.
Measure, mark out, and interpret drawings and tolerances
Manufacture components using hand tools, power tools, equipment and machines.
Assemble a limited number of mechanical components correctly.
Perform standard inspection and maintenance on tools, equipment and machines.
Demonstrate the capability of exercising due care and attention to the control and maintenance of the work area, product quality as well as creating a work environment that is safe.
Demonstrate a range of capabilities and sensitivities that enhance the graduate's employment and career prospects within the engineering industry.
