Certificate in Community Support Services (Care for the Older Person)

About the course

Graduates of this programme will be able to provide full support, assistance and care to older persons in a residential care facility and a community setting. They will also be able to care for clients affected by dementia; those diagnosed with a terminal illness, and provide support and assistance for the families and whanau of clients. Graduates will also have the knowledge to communicate the concepts of injury prevention and healthy living in the promotion of wellness to clients.

Entry requirements

Under 20 years of age: 36 credits at NCEA L2 across 3 subjects with at least 12 credits in each of English and Mathematics (or equivalent). 20 and over: No minimum academic requirements. IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for applicants with English as a second language.
