About the course
Graduates from this programme will be able to demonstrate
- A knowledge of theoretical aspects of construction which will underpin the practical skills in the National Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4)
- An ability to assist with estimating and planning of building works
- An ability to undertake a position of responsibility in the building industry
- An ability to use hand-tools, builders? equipment and be able to undertake building works as an apprentice.
Employment opportunities for graduates are as carpentry apprentices and employees on building sites. Students who wish to go on to complete training to become a qualified carpentry trades person as recognised by the Building and Construction Industry Organisation will be required to:
- Gain an apprenticeship approved by the BCITO or other recognised organisation
- Complete any other requirements stipulated by the BCITO or other recognised organisation
