About the course

This programme gives students the required foundation skills to launch their career in the manufacturing and engineering industries. Students can learn by making projects like wheel clamps and braziers! Through these projects they will learn about welding safety, the use of hand and power tools, welding theory and weld quality assurance, as well as sketching and reading drawings, making calculations and measurements, and the design and planning of metalwork projects. In the workshop, they will be hands-on in measuring, cutting, fabricating, and welding.

On successful completion, you’ll be well on your way to gaining a highly sought after apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship options could include Fitter and Turner, Engineer, Structural Fabricator, Sheet Metal Worker, and Welder.

Entry requirements

  • For students aged 16+

International Students:

  • International students for whom English is a second language must have an IELTS Academic score of 5.0 with no band lower than 5.0, or a recognised equivalent test.
