About the course
The qualification comprises a compulsory and three elective sections. The compulsory section covers the essential knowledge and skills required by new entrants to this sector of the industry. It includes occupational health and safety practice, basic responsibilities of a seafood industry worker, legislative compliance for seafood processing, operation and maintenance of equipment and tools, and sea survival and sea safety.
The elective sections provide candidates with the flexibility to choose standards relevant to the supplementary skills required within their own workplace.
This qualification provides recognition for the basic skills required to enter a training programme leading to the National Diploma in Seafood Vessel Operations (Factory Trawler Technician) (Level 6) [Ref: 0843].
