About the course
This qualification recognises competence in the gasfitting trade. Holders of this qualification are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in: use of gasfitting tools and equipment; excavation and trenching; the installation and necessary maintenance of gasfitting pipework, ducting, appliances, systems, and equipment; health, safety, and emergency requirements relating to gasfitting activities; good work habits, customer services and relations, and ethical behaviour; job requirements and job costing factors; drawing patterns; and constructing sheet metal products.
This qualification shares unit standards in common with the National Certificate in Drainlaying [Ref: 0077] and the National Certificate in Plumbing [Ref: 0202]. People undertaking or completing the National Certificate in Gasfitting [Ref: 0201] often complete the National Certificate in Plumbing [Ref: 0202] and vice versa.
People awarded this qualification may apply for registration as a gasfitter under the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006. Registration will be dependent on the applicant meeting additional Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) requirements. The PGDB, in accordance with the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006, reserves the right at all times to register or not register.
