National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 3)

About the course

This qualification is for people who handle wool in the wool harvesting industry.

Holders of this qualification will have the skills to prepare and grade the wool clip at the board where a table is required and prepare and grade the wool clip. They will also have the knowledge of wool clip preparation and the sale of wool process, and of contract requirements.

The compulsory standards in this qualification recognise the set of well-defined wool pressing skills and knowledge that apply across all woolsheds.

An optional standard has been included in the qualification that recognises the skills and knowledge required for wool pressing fine wool, which are required in some areas.

Candidates must already have completed the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Entry) (Level 2) with the Learner Wool Handler Strand [Ref: 1546] or the National Certificate of Wool Harvesting (Level 2) with the Wool Handling Strand [Ref: 1050] prior to award of this qualification. The aim of the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Entry) (Level 2) with Strands [Ref: 1546] is to provide candidates with broad transferable skills such as occupational health and safety, work and study skills, and general agriculture, in addition to introductory wool harvesting skills.

On completion of this qualification people can progress to the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 4) [Ref: 1548], for which this qualification is a prerequisite for award, or the National Certificate in Wool Handling (Wool Pressing) (Level 3) [Ref: 1057].
