Whitireia and WelTec is a wholly-owned Crown entity subsidiary company of NZIST, known for its high student success rate and culturally diverse student body. WelTec was first born as Petone Technical School in 1904, Whitireia was launched in 1985, and the two joined in 2012 to become known as Whitireia and WelTec. Whitireia and WelTec has grown to become a highly respectable Tertiary Institution in Wellington and Porirua.
We have highly-skilled teaching and support staff who work hard to support you every step of the way, with over 200 programmes of study covering masters, postgraduates, degree, diploma and certificate levels along with a number of short courses.
We welcome learners at every life stage: school leavers. University graduates, those preparing to re-enter the workforce. and current workers wanting to upskill or retain. We have a wide range of excellent support services to ensure you achieve your career goals.

The Whitireia Porirua Campus is where Whitireia began and continues to offer a number of community-driven courses. Located just 20 minutes from Wellington City, the Whitireia Porirua Campus is one of New Zealand's most beautiful sites for a tertiary institution.
Wellington Regional School of Construction
18 Western Hutt Road, Lower Hutt, Wellington
Our Construction campus is the biggest trades training facility in New Zealand. The campus is located on State Highway 2, just minutes from Petone railway station with lots of parking available. Students learn through tailored workshops that develop their skills in carpentry, painting, decorating and tiling. The facility opened in 2015 and is positioned just minutes from Petone's famous Jackson Street, close to bars, cafes, and restaurants.
Te Kāhui Auaha Campus
65 Dixon Street, Wellington, Wellington
Te Kāhui Auaha is our creative campus that opened in 2018. Located right in the heart of Wellington City, situated on the corner of Cuba Street and Dixon Street, it’s just around the corner from Wellington's best-loved bars, venues, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Te Kāhui Auaha facilities include two theatres, 55 seater cinema, exhibition gallery and a performance studio.
Petone Campus
21 Kensington Avenue, Lower Hutt, Wellington
Our Petone Campus is located in the vibrant suburb of Petone which is only a 15-minute drive from Wellington city. The area is full of cafes, bars and restaurants as well as being home to the Light House Cinema, Remutaka Cycle Trail and Petone Settlers Museum.
